THE 16-CAMPUS UNIVERSITY OF
NORTH CAROLINA FACILITIES NEEDS

Facilities Needs

onepixel.gif

Welcome to the University of North Carolina's web site on facilities needs. The quality and diversity of public higher education in North Carolina continues to be the envy of other states. However, many UNC and community college campuses are turning away qualified students due to overcrowded conditions and outdated facilities. Considering that within the next 10 years, full-time enrollment at our universities and community colleges is expected to grow by some 100,000 students-a 30% increase-the time to increase educational opportunity and ensure North Carolina's economic progress is now.

In May, the N.C. General Assembly unanimously voted to support a November referendum on a $3.1-billion bond issue for University and community college construction. This web site is designed to help North Carolinian's better understand the facilities problems confronting the University. If you have questions or comments about the site, we hope you will contact us. Thanks for visiting.
