WRITE A LETTER

Thank you for your efforts to support UNC's capital facilities needs and the Joint Select Committee's proposal to put this issue before the voters of our State. Below is a sample letter to help you contact members of the General Assembly urging their swift support of the recommendation.

DATE: May 4, 2000

ADDRESS: The Honorable John Doe
NC House of Representatives
Legislative Building
Raleigh, North Carolina 27601

GREETINGS: Dear Representative Doe:

THANKS:
BE DIRECT:
After a unanimous vote of the Joint Select Committee on Higher Education Facilities Needs and a recommendation from the leadership of both parties in the House and Senate, I urge you to support the effort to put the University and community colleges' needs before the voters of our State. I understand that the University and the community colleges strongly support this important measure and it will be critical for you to do everything possible to see that the General Assembly approves the recommendation within the first weeks of the session.

The future of public higher education in our State depends greatly on the success of the proposed bond referendum. I urge you to support the the bond proposal in the General Assembly and when it is before the people of North Carolina. Your work on behalf of the University of North Carolina and the community colleges is critically important. Please feel free to contact me at (555) 555-5555 if I may be of assistance in this effort.

BE COURTEOUS:

Once again, thank you for supporting the University.

Sincerely,
